What conditions does a venereologist diagnose?
A venereologist diagnoses, among other conditions, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, genital herpes caused by HSV-1 or HSV-2, HPV infection and genital warts, trichomoniasis and selected parasitic infections. The doctor can also assess other causes of intimate-area symptoms, such as candidiasis or dermatological conditions. Not every problem in this area is an STI.
